An early morning lane walk around our local area this morning.

We (husband and teen, with Milo the dog) left the house just before 6am.  The sun hadn’t quite yet risen, and we were treated to invigorating fresh feeling air, silence except for birdsong (the blackbirds were in fine voice), a distant owl screech, and the woodpecker knocking.

The lanes are lined with primroses and daffodils – wherever you look there appears to be some shade of yellow highlighting the way.  The primroses in their bunched, pale pastel lemon clusters, and the bright yellow happy heads of the daffodils, standing upright, strong and tall.

We saw our first sight of the blackthorn blossom, the first delicate blooms of cowparsley, and our first bird nest.  We also noted a few remaining bright scarlet red berries on the holly bush.
